Description

Bimeprazol is a prescription-only proton pump inhibitor oral paste licensed for use in horses, including foals from four weeks of age weighing over 70 kg and breeding stallions. Containing omeprazole 370 mg per gram as the active substance, it works by suppressing gastric acid secretion through specific inhibition of the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of the parietal cell. It is indicated for the treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers in horses and is a POM-V product requiring a valid veterinary prescription.

Product Description

Bimeprazol is indicated for use in horses for the management of gastric ulceration, including both active treatment and prevention. Omeprazole is effective across horses of various breeds and under different management conditions. It is recommended to associate treatment with appropriate husbandry changes, including reducing stress, minimising fasting periods, and increasing roughage intake.

For Horses:

Treatment of gastric ulcers — a 28-day course at the therapeutic dose rate, followed immediately by a further 28-day course at the maintenance dose rate to reduce recurrence

Prevention of gastric ulcers in horses at risk, including those under high-performance training or competition conditions

Suitable for use in foals from four weeks of age weighing over 70 kg

Suitable for use in breeding stallions
